Isleham preschool is situated on the site of the Isleham Church of England Primary school, in the village of Isleham close to Soham, Ely and Newmarket.

Why Isleham preschool? Isleham preschool opens term time only – Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30. Children can attend a variety of sessions times and days to assists parents / guardians. All children attending the preschool setting are above 3 years old. The preschool has been open over several decades and has supported and transitioned thousands of children through the preschool and onto their primary school setting. Isleham preschool is a small setting accommodating for up to 26 children per session. There are currently 3 play workers and a deputy manager who you would be supervising plus a part time administrator (supporting the manager and deputy with admin tasks).

What you will be doing?

• Managing, leading, mentoring and inspiring a team to deliver exceptional care and education to all children at the preschool.
• Holding overall responsibility for the day to day running and management of the preschool with the support and guidance from the preschool committee.
• With the support from the deputy manager and committee, lead on succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, including mentoring for all staff members.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with colleagues, parents / carers.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external agencies and professionals.
• Promote the preschool to current parents / carers, and new parents / carers.

What we’re looking for:

• Full and Relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
• Experience within an Early Years leadership role (ideally as a Deputy Manager or Assistant Manager (or similar)
• Deliver the curriculum across the preschool setting
• Experience of participating with a regulatory inspection
• Confident decision maker and communicator who has a variety of techniques to respond to the demands of the preschool
• Experience in leadership to support & guide other staff members to fulfil their roles and responsibilities and to reach their full potential
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with early years
• Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with both colleagues and parents

Isleham preschool committee:

Isleham Under Fives Association is a parent-led UK registered charity– No. 294978. The committee has overall responsibility for all aspects of running the setting; however, the day to day running of the pre-school is delegated to the manager.

The committee can be made up of parents, grandparents and community members who are elected to take on
key roles on a voluntary basis to ensure a smooth, consistent, and secure service.

The committee has overall responsibility for:

• Safeguarding our children
• Financial management
• Staff recruitment and management
• Liaising with Ofsted and other relevant bodies
• Ensuring all policies and procedures are in line with the national standards
• Parental engagement
• Fundraising

The committee & manager meet on a regular basis to discuss the above and any other matters that have arisen.

In preparation, those shortlisted for interview will be asked to complete a short management task and an activity with the children prior to the interview. All other details will be highlighted in any interview invitations.
