The Village Montessori Nursery is a small setting based in the village of Theydon Bois. We are seeking a qualified, experienced Montessori directress or senior Early Years practitioner, preferably with Montessori experience, to provide maternity leave cover for one year commencing as soon as possible. Candidate will work with children from 2 years 3 months to 5 years.
Candidate must hold a Montessori Diploma (ideally International Diploma) and/or Level 3 Early Years Diploma and have a good understanding of the EYFS. We are looking for someone who is a good team worker, is in good health, has an excellent command of spoken and written English and has a minimum grade of C in Maths and English ‘O’ Level or GCSE. The candidate will have a good knowledge of health and safety to ensure the well-being of children and staff, demonstrate a caring and sympathetic nature, be confident using the Montessori materials or willing to train, and have an excellent understanding of child development.
Hours: 9 am to 2 pm Mon-Fri, 41 weeks per annum, mostly following school term-time.
Duties will include, amongst others: working with a small group of children each day; planning and preparing group activities relating to our topics; maintaining daily records; preparing Next Steps for key children; working with parents and outside agencies alongside Manager; attending training as and when required (eg. First Aid, Safeguarding); preparing the indoor and outdoor environment before session and tidying away at the end of the session. (NB: there is some lifting of equipment from time to time).
Salary negotiable, plus paid overtime. Training will be provided if necessary as well as opportunities to attend conferences and seminars as part of the candidate’s CPD; paid holiday up to 28/29 days (which includes bank holidays) per annum. There is an option to join the nursery’s Pension Scheme.
Good communication links to M25, M11 and Central Line.
The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS and will be asked to provide 3 references.
