This is an exciting opportunity to help set up from scratch and run a brand new nursery in Orton Southgate Peterborough. Do you have an outstanding calibre and have what it takes to lead a brand new nursery in Orton Southgate, keep a strong focus on the development and welfare of children and keep parents informed with the full support and help from the your team.
You will need to have 3-4 years good solid experience in early years, with the ability to monitor all aspects of the EYFS framework, of managing a team and providing outstanding care for children 0-5 years. Good communication skills, team work and initiative are essential as you will need to build key relationships with staff, parents and children. We are committed to developing our service to meet the needs of children, parents and the local community. You will need a real sense of wanting to create an outstanding setting that achieves amazing outcomes for children.
You will be required to provide an enhanced disclosure.
This is a full time post. Salary negotiable depending on qualification and experience.
Main Purpose of Role:
Plan and deliver effective daily management of the nursery, in accordance with company policy, keep all records that fulfil requirements of all relevant legislation, including Local Authority and Ofsted regulations.
Provide the highest standards of childcare and education to include the monitoring and the ongoing assessment of children’s progress, working with parents and outside agencies, to providing a safe, stimulating and caring child-centred environment to enable the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of children.
Support the aims and objectives of the nursery and organise and manage a high quality provision for children from birth to five years.
Ensure that all agreed quality and safety standards are maintained in the nursery at all times.
Supervise, direct and support all staff within the nursery.
Invoicing, collection and accounting of fees.
Marketing and promotion to increase occupancy.
Liaise closely with parents/carers to ensure high levels of involvement and customer satisfaction at all times.
Reports to: Area Manager
Direct Responsibility of:(Deputy Manager, Room Leaders, Nursery Practitioners and Nursery Cook.)
Promote the aims and objectives of the nursery.
Promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors.
Show parents around the nursery facilities and send out information.
Ensure the provision of high standards of care is maintained.
Lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times.
Set and implement objectives and policy for the nursery.
Plan and organise staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with local authority guidelines and nursery procedures.
Implement administrative procedures involved with registration, place allocation and other related matters.
Develop and implement systems to monitor and record child development.
Prepare and maintain materials and equipment.
Be responsible for the Health & Safety Standards appropriate for the needs of young children and ensure staff compliance and awareness.
Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and stages of development.
Ensure confidentiality of information received.
Promote staff development and training.
Be responsible for the supervision and training of students in placement within the nursery, identifying their learning needs and advise key-staff of these.
Liaise with parents, other family members and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of care given.
Work alongside the parents/carers of special needs children to achieve full integration within the nursery.
Liaise with outside agencies as required.
Report requirements for efficient upkeep of the building and maintenance/stock of equipment, furnishings and fittings.
Maintain staff awareness of fire drills in accordance with the code of practice.
Chair monthly staff/planning meetings and training sessions outside working hours.
Undertake other duties as may be requested from time to time by the Owner.

Operate in accordance within local Safeguarding Board guidance, nursery safeguarding and best practice in relation to child protection, safeguarding and whistle-blowing.

3 - 4 years post qualifying experience in a Day Care Setting
Experience in a Managers Position
Experience of working with children aged 0 - 5 years
Education / Training Qualifications
NVQ Level 4 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification. Desirable EYP / Degree in Childhood studies
Other acceptable qualifications (as stated in the QCA guidelines)
A recent Paediatric First Aid qualification
Basic Food and Hygiene Certificate
Knowledge of The Children Act
Knowledge of Every Child Matters
Knowledge of Safeguarding, SEN, Quality and Inclusion.
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
Knowledge of OFSTED Standards
The ability to demonstrate an up to date knowledge of current thinking and development in early years
Awareness of planning/record keeping and Key Worker systems
Awareness of Health and Safety and Risk Assessments
Skills and Abilities:
