An opportunity has arisen for band 4 Nursery Nurse to join the team at New Horizons, Mother and Baby Unit located on the Southmead Hospital site in North Bristol
New Horizon is a 4 bedded inpatient unit that provides a specialist service for women suffering from mental illness in the postnatal period; particularly when there are issues relating to attachment and when the mothers mental illness has an impact on her ability to care for her baby.
Care is provided over a 24 hour period and team members work rotational shift patterns including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays to facilitate this.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Work with service users with a range of acute and enduring illnesses.
Therapeutic relationships with service users and carers
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
Support complex and vulnerable families alongside side the team and other health professionals
Plan and implement baby care plans with the mother
Offer advice to mums on the health and development of their child
To be sensitive to the cultural, physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the child and their families
To encourage mums/partners/families to participate in all aspects of play and development with their children, advise on suitable play activities and age appropriate toys
Advice on attuned and positive parenting, sleep, weaning, feeding problems and play materials.
You will be expected to complete all statutory and mandatory trainings identified by our trust including the prevention and management of violence and aggression and basic resuscitation
