Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager


Salary: £28,000 -£30,000 per annum

Contract: Full time Permanent

We are looking for an experienced nursery manager to join our wonderful nursery in Ilford. You must have prior experience of managing a childcare provision as a manager or a deputy, and overseeing at least one Ofsted inspection that had a “Good” or “Outstanding” outcome. What is even more important to us is that you are able to inspire, lead and mentor a team of young and dynamic early years practitioners.  Leading a strong team on a daily basis to ensure they deliver the EYFS, meet children’s developmental and wellbeing needs, and maintain excellent relationships with parents.

You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:

  •  NNEB, NVQ, Cache or recognised equivalent Early Years Childcare / Nursery Nurse qualification
  • A robust understanding of the latest EYFS framework
  • Good awareness of planning, observing and record keeping procedures
  • Experience of implementing nursery safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, manage and inspire a team successfully
  • Proven record of staff retention
  • Experience of managing a resource budget
  • Experience of understanding and achieving occupancy target
  • Very good written skills to draft short reports, newsletters, emails and letters
  • A customer service approach, being willing to go above and beyond for families
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills to manage your own work load
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a nursery management position

Some of your responsibilities as Nursery Manager will include:

  • To be responsible for the daily running and administration of the nursery whilst complying with all statutory requirements, and the nursery policies and procedure.
  • To lead the team ensuring all children receive rich and stimulating play and learning experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development, in conjunction with the Early Years Framework and our expert parent partnership app.
  • To ensure children are kept safe by means of regular risk assessments, analysis of accidents and incidents followed by appropriate staff training/briefing.
  • To work closely with the nursery Administrator on Health and Safety policies and procedures of the nursery are put into practice including allergy management, risk assessment and administration of medication policy etc.
  • To lead the team with enthusiasm, ensuring that the nursery offers an environment which reflects our vision of helping to raise citizens of the world.
  • To prepare for and lead the nursery during inspections and to implement any recommendations from those and your Area Manager.
  • To induct, support and mentor new staff, carry out staff supervision meetings, conduct regular staff assessments, recognising training needs, monitoring training and developing teamwork and staff wellbeing.
